A visit of Avignon, the “city of the Popes”

At the meeting of the Rhone and the Durance, in the South East of France, Avignon, a city full of history and life, invites you to discover its treasures for a day. Its fame comes mainly from its bridge and its historical ramparts. The passage of the popes in Avignon has significantly marked its architecture to such an extent that it is called the “city of the Popes”.

Its superbly well-preserved ramparts contain numerous monuments classified as UNESCO world heritage sites that you can admire as you stroll through the narrow, cobbled streets of the city. Don’t leave Avignon without having taken a walk on the famous bridge whose song has made the city known throughout the world.

Since 1947, Avignon has also been the capital of the performing arts thanks to its theater festival and will not fail to charm you with its gentle way of life.
